Title: Cycling
Post by: Darvince on October 07, 2012, 02:31:07 AM

Title: Re: Cycling

Kol I don't. But I cycle to school which is approx 16 km/day.

Also cycling is exciting.

dont you get tired? How long does it take you to get there?
Title: Re: Cycling
Post by: Bla on October 07, 2012, 05:12:44 AM
No, I get fresh. I get tired if I don't cycle in the morning. :P
20-25 minutes each way. Which is slightly faster than using public transport.

I get tired if I cycle more than 40-50 km in one day. The longest I've cycled in one day is ~64.6 km, but ~4 km of them was in the evening, so 60.6 km is the longest I've cycled without breaks.

Also cycling is good for your healths.

Kol, sounds like an interesting idea, I'd do that if I could get time, but I can't think of any way I would get attention to raise money for a charity because I cycle around and only eat bread and drink water. :P

I like bread.

Reached an important milestone (or more accurately kilometerstone) today if you consider New Year 2012-2013 to be an important point in time.

In college I would take a bus to college. But I always took the stairs (Both up and down) rather than taking the lift.
The stairs were usually faster.

Kol. Lifts are skary. I'm always cautious the buttons will bring me to the wrong places like floor 1371, Earth's core or Finland. Once I saw someone who was stuck in an elevator. They had to call someone to get out.

Title: Re: Cycling
Post by: Bla on October 04, 2014, 03:09:28 PM
I'm not actually scared of elevators either, but it can be kind of confusing to get enclosed in such a box and having to trust the buttons to bring you to the right place and all the mechanics and electrics not to lock you up.

This one is from January 2013 where I made some physics experiments and happened to have some strong tape, so I tried taping a cam on my bike. The resulting video is absolutely flawless quality, especially after YouTube's 2 hour processing that made all the completely minor wobbles look like vh's Minecraft wobble shaders had been applied to reality.
~7 km in the video

Longest cycling trip yet today, 109.19 km (and this time without ending up pretty bad like on the 104 km trip some years ago - bringing 2 liters of water instead of 0 was probably a good idea). After 7 km the rear wheel boykotted the trip and a spoke cracked. A random, friendly asian in a nearby garden helps cut it off. There were 2 other broken spokes that I wrapped a bit around plus I probably cut a few others off some other times so I felt a bit uncomfortable and #yolo #ebolo #yolo #ebolo but well #yolo right

Here's an album with photos from the tirp:

New longest cycling trip, barely beating the May one:

Distance: 109.61 km
Time: 4:16:05 h:m:s
Avg speed: 25.68 km/h
Max speed: 53.01 km/h

Having only slept around 4.5 hours and also cycled around 15 km earlier today I am pretty tired now kol. Sad that all the yellow fields are gone, but here are some of the photos. I think they aren't really as good as the ones from the other trip but the route had some good bike paths.

Yes

hey bla do you have a device for those speed things or do uoi just calc it?
I have a device list (there's a photo of it in the album from the last trip) but I just recalled there's no way the wheel circumference would be known to 5 decimals and I got a new front tyre between the trips so the dist probably shouldn't have more than 3 kol, so I can't really say which trip was longer. But I guess this is out of reach of the Physics Result Police and I like numbers with many decimals so not going to bother with that here kol. Let's just say it's unprocessed raw data and not results.
