Dan, are you adding this? I need a simulator that forms objects, and you can watch it (it can be hydrodynamic), and then depending on your computer you can choose the size of objects you want to show before you can see them appear. That would be awesome. I can't find anything anywhere.
-
Same here, I want to make a protoplanetary ring around Earth and then everything clumps to three big moons, then mold them to Luna!!
-
How do you know you'll get three moons? You know we once had 2 though.
Another idea! Just, re-tellling again, I know I said this but, what about Ctrl+Alt to fix to see the sky from an object. Then there appears a new UI it has << (backwards) < (backwards one frame) || (pause) > (Forward one frame) >> (Forward), and a lines and a clicable edit preferences. From there you can choose (when you click lines) when a do it to plot with a date of an object. Say you choose 7. A line traks the object in the sky, and places a dot labeled with the day. There is also another button, it says time. If you click it and enable it, there is a drop down menu, it says Day (it fixes on the Sun), Morning (it fixes the sun just below (or on) the horizon), Mignight (direectly opposite from the sun), Evening (it fixes sun below (or on) the horizon)
Oh, you can Ctrl+Shift click to focus on any object.

We had 2 moons once?! First time I've heard that! ???
-
For about a day or so ;D
-
Info about the Dual moons?
-
why info? You can make a system ;D ;D ;D ;D

Describe how you'd like this to work in more detail please...
So you want to be able to create a disc of dust/debris and watch it collect to form planetiods/bodies. Why would you need to choose the size of the object before it is shown?
I'm tentatively planning on improving the simulation after the version 2 release (which will mainly focus on the UI). This is the kind of thing I'd like to address in a future update.
...fix [the camera] to see the sky from an object.
A simple version of this may be in the next release, but no promises. :)

If you don't choose a size the sim will freeze with one billion centimeter sized objects and it will have to calculate the path instead of just making blobs of dust.
-
Maybe make an option?
"How many objects can appear with Protodisk?"
The system will then choose randomly or use some formula or whatever to choose how many between 1 (or 0) and the number in the option.

Technically, limiting object size before being shown, will limit object amount, but you cout add both, with a like... choose one option.
Info about the Dual moons?
Not shure where, but, when Orpheus (Theia) hit Earth, it sprayed into a line of material streching from Earth with two bulges, coming in for a second hit. I slammed in and material sprayed into a ring like stucture (at this point only about 30degrees around earth with two blobs (the moons) within. Within hours, they collided and formed a small moon, eventually grabbing more material to form the Moon as we know it today.
I think. ;D
I don't know but this took me 30 minutes to find...

Neutron Star is wrong.
As theia hit earth, it created 2 "blobs" that is true, one was mantle stone, the other one was the iron core of theia. The iron core of theia couldnĀ“t escape earths gravity and smashed into earth.
And technicaly we had billions of moons after that crash.
-
If you say billions of moons, that's wrong, or we would say the gas giants have many moons.
-
He means we had billions of pieces of debris around us eventually making up our moon.
-
evry piece that orbit our planet is a moon. After the crash, we had for several hundred years one big moon and billions of small moons. The smalles just some cm and the bigger ones several km.
-
if Thea don,t crash with protoearth he will be crash with Venus (i see on Discovery Channel)
-
I believe they are called Satellites, though. Not Moons. You don't call the rings of Saturn "moons".
-
In Italian satellites (natural ones) and moons are the same thing
-
not only in italy.
Sattelites and moons are exactly the same.
Evry piece of dust that orbit saturn is technicly a moon.
-
Wikipedia says something similar:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_satellite
Satellite and moon are basically interchangeable... But like Chaotic Cow's comment, I wouldn't call the rings of Saturn moons either.
-

How? Theia was in the L5 (or is it 4?) of earth!

I think it was L4.

that planet what crash into earth and created moon is called Theia or Orfeus
Theia/Orfeus have similiar land and atmospehre to our Earth
-
witold, i said it was orpheus earlier.
No need. ;)

Here is my "protoplanetary disk" of jupiters. Don't worry, it doesn't lag.
Nor will my PROTOPLANETARY MOON DISK
-
Nor will my PROTOPLANETARY MOON DISK
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what a title!!!!
lol ;D
-
Huh? ???
-
that "PROTOPLANETARY MOON DISK" is a "title" right???
-
Yes? And?
-
And...Forget it
