Title: Most Earth-like Exoplanets Ever Discovered
Post by: Gregory on June 21, 2019, 05:38:05 AM
On June 20th, scientists using the CARMENES data detected 2 exoplanets orbiting Teegarden's Star (12 light years from our Sun), which were analysed to have similar masses to Earth.
And the 1st planet has the highest ESI (Earth Similarity Index) of all discovered exoplanets, at 0.94, meaning 94% similar in style to Earth, dethroning TRAPPIST-1e though again ESI doesn't account for habitability.

Planet b has 1.05 x Earth's mass and c has 1.11 x Earth's mass.

So far we currently don't know their diameter or composition, but we do know they orbit in the star's habitable zone, which is much smaller than ours, as the star's only 8% the mass of our Sun and 12.7% its radius.

The simulation shows the planets radii and composition as plausible guesses considering their mass and distance.

The bodies "teegarden b" and "teegarden c" don't exist in US2 yet, so I made them from scratch and they go in the bodies folder.
