Title: NASA Simulation - World Wind
Post by: Naru523 on July 22, 2009, 09:48:27 PM
World Wind is a realistic simulation about the Earth. You can zoom in, watch hurricanes move,  look at the Grand Canyon. You can also change the time of Earth (December: Ice at poles, July: Little Ice at Poles)

Cool! Downloading right now!
:'( How come when I go back in time... The clouds don't move? I wanted to see the hurrricane season of 2005.

Th clouds wont move cause, they don't know the cloud movement in the future.

Go to "Scientific Visualization Studio"
Go to "Oceans"
Go to any Hurricane.
It takes time to load the images, like the fire on Africa in 2002, 365 days!

Mine was Katrina Hurricane, it formed when two small hurricane collided. The Katrina went to the Carribian Sea ( damaging Cuba, Florida, Lousiana, Georgia, Mississipi, Alabama} Then went to Gulf of Mexico, and went to East-Southern United States...

Using World Winds I discovered a strange landmark in the middle of the Sahara. When I went back to take a smaller picture it was gone. So I was forced to edit the two I had so here they are. One is blue to help bring out the dimensions, because the original color wasn't very clear.

If the uploader is full. I will try to upload it another day, but I won't be on for a while.

Just tell me what you think it is. It doesn't look like a crater, since it's not to deep. It's to big to be a salt mine(there are many of these in Africa). I noticed a small hill at the center. But realize this picture was taken from almost 100km up.
Title: Re: NASA Simulation - World Wind
Post by: atomic7732 on July 30, 2009, 12:12:35 PM
It probably started out as dunes, and then wind eroded down into the bedrock, then, just make it deeper.

Can you provide coordinates? We could find it on Google Earth too (if it is high resolution).

Why not a crater? Maybe not a great asteroid, but the shape is so circular.
Maybe could it be an ancient lake, or a volcano?

If you've ever gone to the beach. The water is 69 degrees. That's too cold for hurricanes, you might get a TD, that is easy. Last remnat we got was Javier. Winds were 30 mph (TD) I went outside, and it was cool.

It will soon lose its tropical features and turn into a rain storm. I live in Southern California they say it will just make big waves and maybe a little rain.

I updated it.

Now you can CHOOSE storms , to put WHEN. Not WHERE. Soon, there will be 10 preset storms
2 hurricanes, 5 tropical stroms, and 3 tropical depression/invests

Mine was Katrina Hurricane, it formed when two small hurricane collided. The Katrina went to the Carribian Sea ( damaging Cuba, Florida, Lousiana, Georgia, Mississipi, Alabama} Then went to Gulf of Mexico, and went to East-Southern United States...

A low and TD 10.

you have to put it in the NASA folder (i.e. C:/Program Files (x86)/NASA/Add-ons
and I think the .xml in C:/Program Files (x86)/NASA/Config(ure)
