Post by: atomic7732 on March 11, 2011, 07:34:15 AM

Tsunami alerts out

Quite alot of destruction.

I'm thinking damage/death toll something like Chile, if not up to 175% of that.

Horrible. And a nuclear power plant is in danger as well.
I just red there had been an after-quake (not sure this is a word?), causing an explosion at reactor 3 in Fukushima-Daiichi.

Red Cross (http://www.icrc.org/eng/donations/index.jsp) is supporting Japan with aid.

Non-Believers Giving Aid (http://givingaid.richarddawkins.net/) - if you happen to be non-religious, want to help, and are tired of the claim that "only religious people give aid" etc., this one is a good site.

Why are people only beginning to post today? Anyways it was upgraded to 9.0 a few days ago making it number 4 on the list of largest recorded quakes in history.

The amount of destruction (http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/03/13/world/asia/satellite-photos-japan-before-and-after-tsunami.html) is terrible. :/

A strong aftershock, recorded 7.4, happened.

Another interesting thing is that...
The earthquake moved Honshu  2.4 m (7.9 ft) east and shifted the Earth on its axis by almost 10 cm (3.9 in).
