Title: How to insert a New Planet in Simulations ?
Post by: Dody on July 11, 2008, 07:03:25 AM

In 1988 Robert Harrington has developed a hypothesis that anomalies in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune were due to the presence of a planet X beyond the orbit of Pluto:

Despite these anomalies were later corrected without the need of an Planet X,  I have tried to recreate the orbit of the planet proposed by Harrington with the Universe Sandbox using the file "Our Solar System."

But I have not had success since the planet never appears in the simulations ( I paste the file in a folder above the system files ).

Maybe I have committed some mistake in the conversion of data from orbital elements in vectors of position and velocity.

Does anyone know tell me how to perform this conversion? Is there a tool for this?

Can you share the code so I can see what the problem might be?

And remember you need to put your System files in:
My Documents\Universe Sandbox\Systems

If you put your custom XML files in the System folder where the application is installed it may be deleted when you update.

I have had problems with planets not showing up due to bad input in the .xml.  Whether it be a tag out of order, or an incorrect value.

If you post your xml i am sure someone can help.

Alnitak created a system with Nibiru / Planet X in this thread:
