Title: Direction of Sunlight on the planets
Post by: theronrr on January 04, 2009, 09:58:02 PM
I've noticed that the lighting of a planet is not usually in perspective to the sun.
Is this by design or a feature?  Thanks!  Great program

it's a known problem and the fix is on the "todo" list  ;)

I've had light emanating from stars in a much earlier build of Universe Sandbox, but it didn't look right, so I went back to a fixed imaginary light source.

This is something I'm very interested in fixing in the next few months.

sun will not hot the earth because it may evaporate the planets

This is a problem that I've actively working to solve.

I'm currently planning for the next release to feature light emitting from stars.

The next release will most likely include:

- New interface elements
- Light emitting from stars
- Editable orbital elements

I want to release a new version as soon as possible, but getting new features to work correctly with all existing features is always a time consuming challenge. I'm not yet sure when the new release will be ready, but it won't be for a few weeks at least.
