Indeed here is a LOT of snow where I live, compared to it only being November. :P
It's awesome (except having to cycle 10 km every morning in it!). :)
It has been snowing constantly for three days, I think.
I took this photo Friday on my way home from high school:
Here's an image from earlier today... The snow covering the roof of my greenhouse extends to the roof of my house. This also happened last year, though it was only some weeks in the beginning of January, and I don't even think there was that much snow even at that time.
Sadly, we've had to remove the awesomeness, as my parents feared that it would make the greenhouse collapse. :P
(Scroll right to see the extension.)

Sorry about the huge images. :P
-
Yay for denmark! ;D
-
Its really cold here in the West coast. :P
Too much rain.
-
Here snow happens if it January, a blue moon, and the year ends with a 7.

We don't have any...
And Bla, is there a bird in the tree (second image)? hahaha ;D ;D ;D

I can tell that you edited! ;D

yeah... it was kinda bad
I probably should have done it in strips... that'd make it easier to align the countries and everything. I just focused on getting the clouds realistically close.

New information!!!
The low in which we recieved snow... Report...
A parcel of air, originating over China traverses the globe, and ends up stalling over Canada's Hudson Bay. Said air had enough moisture to support convection, and it quickly became a low pressure system. This low pressure system moved north west onto Japan. At this point, a trough had broken off and began to use existing convection to support itself. This new low pressure area strengthened until it had a close circulation center. The system existed as a weak low for the greater part of it's journey across the Pacific, until on December 28, the low got caught up in the Pacific jet stream. The jet streams rapid currents sped the system up, and turbulence generated enough convection to become a severe snow storm. The low made landfall on the Pacific coast of the USA near Oregon. Cold polar air dipped south and gave snow showers in the southwestern deserts from various cumuliform clouds on December 31. The low moved over the Central Plains and began the weakening phase, as there was little warm air inflow to the occluded low pressure system. The low ceased new convection on January 02, and by the January 04, the low was just a weak disturbance over the Hudson Bay.
Timeline
December 20
A low forms in the East China Sea.
December 23
A trough breaks off, forming a new low pressure system.
December 25
New low traverses the dateline.
December 26
Low becomes a broad upper level low with minimal convection.
December 27
Low gets caught in the jet stream.
December 28
Low accelerates quickly; jet stream stimulates convection along the cold front of the system.
December 29
Convection picks up rapidly
December 30
Low makes landfall on Pacific West Coast
December 31
Snow falls across Arizona
January 04
Low dissipates as an upper level disturbance over the Hudson Bay, Canada.
-
wtf Southeast Asia to Hudson Bay? I call shenanigans.

wtf Southeast Asia to Hudson Bay? I call shenanigans.
Fix'd
It's China. :P The map was oddly angled
-
How da foo did it make it that far...
-
Magic.
That and advection.
-
Its either the Yellow Sea or the East China Sea.
-
Its either the Yellow Sea or the East China Sea.
Yellow sea too small.
Apparently I have a few errors, says this meteorology person. It's all just because I phrased it a bid bad. I didn't know exactly how to say it. They won't tell me what I mean. >:(
-
East China Sea, i wurv u.
-
yay for cold occlusions
-
Its coming to the west coast, I assumeeee.

Phoenix and stuff from Thunderbird Park on Tuesday. Clouds are Cirrostratus uniformis and a parhelion can be seen on the right side of the image.
-
Oh yeah, when I got out of school, I saw this leaf-shaped cloud. Lol.

Circumsolar arc from virtually the same location.

Thunderbird Park? *finds out exactly where Nue lives* *profits* Also I didn't see any clouds.

On TUESDAY?
Then you are epically lame.
Dude, I live no where near Thunderbird park.

Almost snowed here in Florida 3 years ago. The most I got that day was small, almost flake-like sheets of ice that melted on contact of the ground. But you could still notice a good layer of snow-ish ice on the ground. That was an awesome day. ;D

pfft you guys would be stocking up on food if three inches were projected.
We're too far south for it to actually snow. It does snow in the high altitudes, but that's irrelevant.
-
awe man, it raiend the snow away. but a got an early closing anyways
btw it's suppose to snow heavy once it's night and the temperature drops, so YEYA
-
F this, I'm moving up north when I grow up.

School is canceled today, I may not see snow on the ground right now but I'm going to be dusted with 2 feet of snow.
I live in Greenland. Weather is never an excuse to be late or close something here. If you can't handle a blizzard then you are living the wrong place. :)
Well, town being no more than 2km from one end to the other of course also help.
-
wow do you like ski to school?
-
Lol tass, we're on opposite ends of the spectrum. Here 42-45C is normal at the summertime.
-
wow do you like ski to school?
I've done a few times. They spread gravel on the roads though so it is not really practical, only right after fresh snow. Usually I just walk.

oh. i thought you had fresh snow liek every day. too bad

Will this front (excuse my meteorological terms) reach the east coast at one point, or will it dissipate by the time it does reach the other side?
-
i think i might be having a small storm thurs
-
Will this front (excuse my meteorological terms) reach the east coast at one point, or will it dissipate by the time it does reach the other side?
No, the rockies kill about 99.9999% of all organized storms that dare cross them. The low itself can make it across, which will partially be the case with this one and you in Florida might see the front on Tuesday.
-
got like 2-3 inches, just enough to cover everything up

Kol snow.
-
winter clodes
-
dumb winter cloudoids that do not rain
and block comets
-
wait ison is like on the 29th right? it'll go away by them
-
by then but not for another like 3 - 5 days
besides that's when ISON is too close to the sun to view safely (at least in a telescope)
And it's highly doubtful that it will be visible in a solar filter, even if it is magnitude like -6
-
so can you just like put a small piece of paper and block out the sun or does it not work like that
-
no that's for annular and/or partial solar eclipses
-
no but in comet lovejoy or something pictures, they like blocked the sun
or was that the head of the comet
-
More winter clodes
-
hmmm
i love days like these

The sky looks depressing, but seeing your local playground getting flooded makes up for it I guess?
-
gray days are not depressing >:(
-
they are if you have 200 of them a year
-
we have 200+ days of sunshine and sunshine isn't depressing
-
that's because sunshine is more "positive" than nosunshine.
-
but for arizona is it really positive? the whole reason rain is so positive to us is we have it not a lot. thus we have too much sun and we don't want it as much so it should be negative or at least, less positive.
considering we like rain so much and rain is so "negative" shouldn't it still be negative to us from forced mid-latitude societal roles of sunshine and gloomy days?
also sun and heat is deadly
-
No clodes today
-
possible ISON viewing tomorrow
-
nevermind that... maybe Lovejoy
but cyclones
-
swirl
(pretty sure this is the western cyclone in the image above)
-
Very nice.
And I am sure at this point I can't view ISON anymore... ;_;
-
well now ISON died so

We usually have lots of snow here in Newfoundland during the winter, I mean last year's winter lasted from November to April. But besides light flurries, we haven't gotten a thing yet. This just shows the difference.

i had a ton of rain, would have been snow if it was a few degrees cooler

-
snowed sat
-
I live in southern cali so the only snow i ever see is on Big Bear mtn and even that doesn't last very long before it melts so I've only seen snow like 3-4 times in my whole life
-
i've been to big bear
-
that last cyclone i posted looks weak as jose in comparison to this one
arizonans get hype
californians... get soaked?
i wonder if this is like the extratropical equivalent of a strong pressure vortex like in hurricanes
like maybe the center of that thing was really low but outside of the center it was more normal - ex. 940 at the center but 980 near the second or third band
