Title: US² stops functioning normaly between 2.98e+120 and 5e+147 years
Post by: Gurren Lagann TSS on March 30, 2018, 06:16:03 AM
Placed a still object at the center, and after around 5e+147 years, the object disappeared. You cant do nothing beyond this time. Not even placing a object works. Another test puts this limit even earlier, at 2.98e+120 years.

I guess that's a limit in US2, but its absolutely broken here.

Also, for those that doesn't understand scientific notation, 5e+147 years is:

5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 5 octaquadragintillion years.

And 2.98e+120 years is:

2,980,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 2 novemtrigintillion, 980 octotrigintillion years.

Good point there. I have reached this year limit as well in Universe Sandbox 2. That limit is a problem and should be removed. Years should be infinite in Universe Sandbox 2, so the limit must be removed.

I noticed that the upper limit is close to 2524, so this may be impossible to remove, due to how Unity handles numbers.

What do you mean here. How does Unity handles numbers?

When a limit is close to or even a power of 2, it cant be fixed. PEROID.

Also like anything in the world, Unity understands numbers in binary, in this case 524-bit.

That's strange. I hope they find a workaround to find a fix to this limit.

I understand.
