Title: Alpha 15.1 Now Available - June 26, 2015
Post by: Dan Dixon on June 26, 2015, 08:25:40 PM
If you already own Universe Sandbox ², just run Steam to update to the latest version.

Or you can buy Universe Sandbox ² here:

What's new?
Alpha 15 is the biggest update yet for Universe Sandbox ². We redesigned the user interface for a cleaner, more intuitive experience, rewrote physics for better performance, and introduced a dynamic soundtrack. There are also magnetic fields, light pulses, fireworks, custom keybindings, and a ton of smaller improvements, changes, and bug fixes.

In Alpha 15.1 we updated the look of Ceres based on the latest photos from NASA, added a random asteroid feature, new moons of Pluto, pulsar jets, and improved the look of brown dwarfs. We also re-introduced the ability to customize launch bodies. Hover over bodies in the Add panel then press a number key to assign the body to that launch slot. There are also a handful of other improvements and bug fixes.

So, was alpha 15 just a "demo" or preview?
Was alpha 15 not done or something?
So is this the official alpha 15?
(15.1)

This is an incremental improvement of what we released last week, but it wasn't quite enough stuff to call it Alpha 16. In many ways the number is arbitrary. In short... Alpha 15.1 is the latest and greatest version so far.

Oh ok.
Awesome.
So what are your plans for the future of US2?

We'll be launching on Steam later this summer. Based on sales of the original (which is how the sequel has been funded) I expect the Steam release will make the project financially sustainable at which point we continue to improve and iterate on it for a long time. We've got so many ideas and plans in the works... it's only going to become more incredible.

The new version is awesome (Patch 15.1). What i liked the most are the pulsars. Can people create pulsars on their own?

Are the Galaxies gonna be improved in the next patch or so because all there was was a cloud-like structure surrounded by dots.

So will releasing the game on steam help or fix the is sure of people getting the game for free?
Or will steam not affect it?

Smashing black holes into larger bodies is fun.

Earth literally turns into a star when I place a black hole smaller than it near it XD

I think the addition of a live responsive soundtrack is the most stunning thing in this update. Well done!

I can't see magnetic fields. Are they a missing feature taken out of 15.1?

Any way in the next update we'll be able to automatically put things in orbit of a binary system?
