One of the things I liked about the original Universe Sandbox was that it could save frames at an interval into a folder as image files. I think it would be a nice feature to bring back, so you could save frames at an interval as images or maybe save them directly as a movie file.
External video recorders work, but if you want to simulate something complicated accurately and over long time scales, like a high-quality galaxy colission, it can take many hours. That could give a very large video file and a very long one too, and speeding it up and saving it again would take a long time. It would be much more convenient if you could just save every e.g. 20 frames and then make a video from that.
If it would be implemented I think an option to choose the interval as (in-game) time instead of frames would also be useful, like save a frame every 5 years.
