Title: Alpha 13.1 now available - February 5, 2014
Post by: Dan Dixon on February 05, 2015, 02:09:06 PM
If you already own Universe Sandbox ², just run Steam to update to the latest version.

Or you can buy Universe Sandbox ² here:

What's new?
We’re unveiling our collision overhaul, which means performance boosts and better collisions more of the time. It also introduces Mars climate simulation, a planetary cutaway view, working orbital elements controls, and an improved graphing tool. We’ve implemented basic tidal heating and tidal evolution, made further improvements to the UI and graphics, and fixed a good number of bugs.

In 13.1, we added some minor performance improvements, made creating a new simulation work better, and we fixed a few more bugs.

Let us know what you think! And please report any problems either with the in game feedback tool or by starting a new thread...

How do I get the 'distance to you' 'distance to star' and 'objects distance from object' to show up?

Select a body and click the new Motion tab. It's toward the bottom of that list.

Okay.

Also, are there any pulsars and white dwarfs (isn't Sirus B supposed to be a white dwarf? Though it's blue in Ubox) in the star database? Trying to look into the accretion disk stuff.

Aww, no Roche limits yet.  Ah well, these things take time.

Also, I dropped the Moon's orbit to skim the earth at periaps and turned on tidal forces... the Earth got a day length of 9 seconds :P.

BUG REPORT: The simulation always freezes when I try opening a new one . The loading window freezes and I have to restart the game.
(Clarification: It only happens when I open a new EMPTY simulation)

On the pro side, the Solar System sim. is running a lot smoother. Is it because you removed the asteroid belt?

Thanks for reporting that Gabriel.

Could anyone that's having a problem creating a "New..." simulation please report their issue here (and share their log file, or email it to us):

I Get the same problem

To Dan:Would you make Solar System Sim Without The Asteroids and Asteroid belt on ?

i was going to do cutaways but then ubox crashed on 100 jupiters -> sun x3 so i'll test that soon

@Dan , Maybe you can add new planet in USbox2 alpha14. And maybe you can promote the 3D effects with impoct. Cheers.

Works awesome, and performs way better!
Also, nice work on the collision system, its faster, and now smaller objects collide way better.

Cheers!

creating a "motion" tab was a great idea to shorten the "basic" list, Dan. Congrats on that. All you have to do now is maybe make all the tabs fit in the width of the window. It looks weird now

Tidal simulation is fun to play with :D

I wonder why Earth and Mars are immune to it...

There is nothing like putting jupiter at blackhole - it rapidly heats up :p
