Raise your timestep or reload sim.

The sun is very unactive for some reasons, but Proxima Centauri and Barnard's Star are monstrous.

Or check if you have solar flares enabled.

As Xriqxa said, in the "sim" panel (gear icon on lower left of screen) make sure "Stellar Flares" is on.

You can load the "Stellar Flares" simulation from the Open menu for some guaranteed flares -- though you'll still need to make sure they're on.
