Title: [FIXED] City lights won't go off after Earth is frozen.
Post by: blotz on August 23, 2014, 11:33:53 AM
in the opening sim, i crashed earth into earth, which pushed it out of orbit and heated it?
i let the sim run at 1month/sec for a minute or 2, and earth was down to -60C .
lights were still on

Uh, when two bodies collide they release lots of energy, which heats the objects. That is correct.

Besides that, there are two things I wanted to say

1) Humanity can survive in such temperatures, and even if most of the population dies, the city lights will stay on for some time.

2) I can barely see citylights in that image

1. everyone will not survive in that temperature and i think it would have kept going down if i left it running. also the lights will quickly turn off if there are no humans because no one is managing them

Well if you crashed earth into earth i don't think that there would be any citylights left..

The minimum temperature before city lights go off in US2 is -70 C. I’m not sure how accurate this is, but it seems pretty unreal to me. If they’re gonna remain on when Earth is a snowball, maybe they should fade over time.

hmm, well even if they fix the temperature thing, the collision should have knocked out most life. like dinos were killed by a much smaller body.
