It would be fun to rip away the atmosphere using some gamma rays :P

If radiation is added into the game; it would be interesting to also add planetary magnetic fields in order to block the radiation that would be emitted by the systems star (or stars). I could also see the current composition editor would work well for this since it already has Iron.
