Title: An ... era in which common infections ... can kill ... is ... a real possibility
Post by: vh on May 08, 2014, 01:21:52 PM
the WHO isn't known for alarmism is it?

"A post-antibiotic era – in which common infections and minor injuries can kill – far from being an apocalyptic fantasy, is instead a very real possibility for the 21st Century."

page 8 of this is pretty cool http://www.who.int/drugresistance/documents/AMR_report_Web_slide_set.pdf?ua=1

when antibiotics become not a thing, it will be interesting to learn about like, 'discovery of penicillin' like "yay it worked for a while, and its effects and discovery of other antibiotics worked for a while, but now they don't so we cower in fear from evolution of viruses and bacteria"

are there any analogs to that at the current time, where some triumph was made but we still learn it and revere it because it used to be good in the past? or do we just ignore them all
