Title: Missing Graphics
Post by: funymunky on March 07, 2010, 12:30:09 AM
Hi, I just downloaded the trial of Universe Sandbox (I might actually buy it too), and it's fun, but I seem to be missing some stuff. The background is just black, in the flower grid simulation thing, there is no grid, and I can't see the rings of planets. Why am I missing all of these?

You might have a bad video card.

Well, I don't think that's the problem, because I have a 9800gt. I mainly use my computer for gaming, but I'm also a science nerd, so this stuff interests me too.

9800gt? Is that better than Nvidia Geforce FX 5500?

Yeah, the bigger the number the better.

Haha but what else could be the cause of my problem?

Probably your graphics settings on this program are wrong.

How do I change the graphics settings?

I don't really know. Check your video card settings.

Can you load Universe Sandbox, open a few systems, try making a grid or adding rings, and then send us feedback (which will send us the program's logs files)?

Please mention in the feedback that you are funymunky from the forums and that you're having video problems.

Your video card should work fine. I want to help you solve this problem.

I sent the feedback, and I also noticed that the rings are visible, they're just small orbs orbiting around the planet.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately it's still not clear what the problem is.

Could you take a screenshot of the rings and send it to me?

1 - Load the system with rings.
2 - Press F12 to take a screenshot.
3 - Open the feedback window
4 - Check the check box that includes a screenshot. This will automatically be the last screenshot you took.
5 - Send the feedback.

After you send me the image can you verify that you have the latest video drivers installed?

Did you get the feedback? I'm still having troubles and am looking forward to using this program to its full capacity.

Did you check to see if you're running the latest video card drivers?

It might also be worth trying to download the program and install it again (although I'm doubtful this will fix it).

Yeah, I have the latest drivers and installing it again didn't help.
