Solar flares, comets, melting ice caps, and explosions. These are a few of Universe Sandbox 2's favorite things.

I cried...
So beautiful
Comet trails look great (but maybe a little too long) but I'm not sure what that black thing is. A very shiny monolith? Also I love how ice forms on high altitudes and recedes when temperature rises.
What's the music? I tried to find it on the YouTube version link but got a person singing.

Doubtful seeming as comet tails can be 570 million km in lenght.
Nice video also, great to see the beauty of universe sandbox without any lag :P

I'm not sure I understand the first sentence. I think you mean that you think that the comet trails are fine. But consider the scale they are on.

Thanks. Length is programmatic and should be representative of reality (so not too long).
Black thing is a monolith.

The music is written by the same guy. The track in the teaser hasn't been released yet.

Oh, ok. Hope that one doesn't have singing.

It's very fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Appearance alpha 7 ;)

Wonder what alpha 7 would like. Is it possible that we can have a slider for vegetation level? That would be awesome. Maybe set a prerequisite of a certain minimum water level and atmospheric level? And be able to change the color of the vegetation from green to purple. Heard in a minuteearth video that an earth-like planet/moon could have purple plants instead of green because of something to do with photosynthesis and remaining light wavelengths. Anyway, would be a very cool feature to see in later versions or possibly even in the initial release.

That would be great... It would be cool to have a proto-planetary disk that would soon turn into a star and planets with random characteristics.
Also, yeah the color of plants kinda depends on light wavelengths from the star. A Earth-like planet in orbit around a red dwarf would likely have black plants.
-
Why would that be?
-
Why would that be?
Since red dwarfs are weak and dim stars, the plants would need to capture as much sunlight as possible to stay alive. It, then, would like black to us.
-
Ah, now I see. So in the rare occasion that life evolves around a blue star, would the plants be white?

No. On Earth-like planets orbiting stars somewhat brighter and bluer than the Sun plants might look yellow or orange, and even look bluish by reflecting a dangerous overabundance of more energetic blue light.

Sounds cool (and legit)

On this (http://planetquest.jpl.nasa.gov/system/interactable/1/), having an Earth-like planet with a m-star shows vegetation as dark-almost black (very visible if the planet age is old than Earth's). After watching a documentary on habitable exoplanets on YouTube that is where I learned that the vegetation color can be radically different than Earth's, depending on the star.

You also witness the extinction of life on account of an asteroid or planet.

Stahp. Making me want US2 more is not helping.

it's just a suggestion. What is Stahp?

Dolan?
Anyway, let's put these new suggestions on the suggestions page. And just PM me the answer, don't wanna get this thread derailed.

Awesome and incredibly beautiful. :)

It's sad how many people are so late to notice this thread...
Or is it just that they see the latest post is by me? ??? :P
-
I did notice it a few times in the past week but was busy with college so didn't take time to watch the video before now. But with that said no I'm not that active on the alpha board, but that has nothing to do with you.
-
K, good to know.
-
When will Universe sandbox 2 be able to download in Alpha or Beta?
-
Probably around this July. I estimate it will cost, mmm, $20-$30
