I propose instead of placing dots (which is highly specific) we instead place names because sexuality can be pretty fluid and can move around quite a bit over the course of a year. After all, it is just attractions to different people, and depending on the people you're surrounded by you can think yourself different sexualities based on what gender they are.

There are legal repercussions for "deviant" sexualities in most middle eastern countries, including life or death sentences. I would imagine that has an effect on or reflects the population's opinion (most likely both to varying degrees).

Yes, it's pointless to try applying 10 significant figure precision to the positions on the chart when our names themselves fill out large areas on it. There's no standard for which point of them marks the "coordinates" of their sexuality. So if I placed half the word outside the chart, one might read the rightmost part within and another might go with the left part and say I just placed myself outside the chart. It's not meaningful for me to convey the coordinates of my sexuality in the chart so accurately when others can't even read them accurately. On the up-down scale I don't even have much of an idea of where to place myself. I just put myself in a place far enough to the left that I'd expect the point to get across: I'm gay.
