Nahh. An asteroid impact would leave a crater not create many continents.

An asteroid would melt the Earth with friction, not crack it.

Nah, I dont think so monmar, remember tectonic plates, Pangea broke up cause North American plate is going westward, same with South America (and the Carribean Plate). Eurasian was going north-east then east. Africa got pushed by the Eurasian plate... India went on a headon collision with Asia. Australia was going upward.
