I'm just wondering here since there seems to have been an uptick in the spambots, but I don't know if this is the usual amount you guys get or not.

Also, those news clipping spambots are new to me, I don't think I've seen those before coming over to this forum.....

It seems like they come in waves. For a few days you'll see several different ones, and then suddenly none for 2 or 3 weeks. Seems normal to me for the past few months.

Okay, just wasn't sure if this amount is what you guys usually get.

Those news clipping spambots make me think someone left a newsfeed valve open somewhere or something.

I'm confused at the news spambots, they aren't accomplishing anything at all.

As I said, I've never seen them before coming here, and I find them really strange as well.

Spam.
But spam, in the original term, is used to get you to a product or give a site hits so that it shows up higher on search results or whatever else it is used for, as far as I understand. That's like having a spam bot say "Hello, how are you?" It accomplishes nothing.

Well yea, but spambots usually try to sell something, while using horrible english at the same time, the usual spambots that is.

All those news spambots are doing is posting the headlines, which makes me think that there is a leaking newsfeed somewhere.

Also, have these been around for a while or are they pretty new?

@Neutron: The news spambots don't even link or hint to what newspaper or newsfeed they are coming from, which makes them even more useless, and more annoying because you don't know where they are coming from.

The news ones are recent. Spambots in general? Since the start of the forum.

I was asking about the news ones. Spambots in general are probably as old as the first forum ever established on the net.
