SO COMPLEX MOONS AND PLANETS!!! And 400 BILLION solar systems. I can't think about it. Help! No no no! I don't DARE to think about how many BYTES that would take. Peta, yotta! It would take YOTTABYTES!!!
Umm... Some stars don't have planets!

Infinity will respect the proportions of the type of stars (classes) number of planets, black holes, etc. using the actual knowledge of the universe.

So there will be also stars without planets, binary and trinary stars, hot jupiters, ...

That's true. But it will still be a solar system, even if there is no planets I think. What about the asteroids and so on?

Anyways, not much of my message was true. When it was written, I didn't know anything about procedural generation. Now I do. And now I know it won't need yottabytes to make the game.

Btw funny as you mention hot Jupiters, FGFG, as they have a picture of one of their procedurally generated planets called 'Hot Jupiter', but I guess that's why you wrote it. Tongue

In that game every star is considered a system as it is less confusing.

What about the asteroids and so on?

Asteroids are also procedural generated. There will be some asteroids in orbit around the central star (I beleve, as i've never read this into the forums nor something different...) and full rings around planets with millions of asteroids. There aren't impacts between them (they follow their own orbit) as they are really unusual in reality too. There aren't impacts between planets also because it would not be possible as the algoritm cannot handle such as these collisions.

Btw funny as you mention hot Jupiters, FGFG, as they have a picture of one of their procedurally generated planets called 'Hot Jupiter', but I guess that's why you wrote it. Tongue

Yes Smiley

P.s. I think that you know what they are, but for the others: The "Hot Jupiters" are gas planets born in the outer part of a solar system that have migrated to a smaller orbit. Infact it's very improbable (but not impossible) that a gas planet could born near his parent star.

Still a few years I think. I think I can remember something like late 2011 if we're lucky.
But it will still take a long time. As you could see in the video, there's no real gameplay yet, even though I'd love just to explore the galaxy of 200 billion stars with every single planet being unique.
