A Woodland High School student was arrested today on suspicion of possessing a weapon while on school grounds, the Woodland Police Department reported.

According to a police department news release, school officials notified a school resource officer that a person had been seen on campus with a gun and had last been seen walking eastbound on Beamer Street towards Walnut Street.

Woodland police officers responded to the area of the school at about 11:30 a.m., and located a juvenile matching the description given by school officials, the release states. Officers ordered the juvenile to the ground and conducted a search of his person, during which an airsoft gun was found in a pocket of the juvenile's shorts.

A subsequent investigation conducted by a school resource officer led to the arrest of the 15-year-old juvenile on suspicion of possessing a weapon on a school campus, the release states.

The juvenile was booked into the Yolo County Juvenile Hall.

There was a school with no air conditioning and there was a water bottle fight, so they banned water bottles... Now with the heatwave on the east coast... Students were dehydrated and collapsing.
