My video quality seems rather low in the game. I'm not sure if this is the highest it gets or I'm doing something wrong: In case you can't see, every piece of dust is like a little, almost transparent square. Downloaded via Steam Computer specs: Intel HD Graphics 2.53 GHz processor- Intel Core i5 Thanks

That's basically how it's supposed to look like at 1x dust. If you want it to look more "filled-in" you need to use the dust multiplier in the options and perhaps check "glow" for brighter dust, and check all 3 options under new lighting system. With that processor you will probably lag starting anywhere from 1.5x-2.5x dust though.

Ah well, an enjoyable game nonetheless.

Also,
Why are the labels so poor-quality? I can barely read what they say. It gets a little annoying in sims like the solar system.
Thanks.

Hmm.... Yeah, they don't look very good. Not sure what the problem is offhand.
How does the UI (user interface) text look?
Can you post a screenshot her of that?
Press Ctrl+F12 to take an in-game screenshot with UI.

The UI text looks good, it's just the labels that are poor quality.

That's strange.
The code that draws the text labels and UI text is mostly the same.
Can you post the full resolution, non-resized version of this image?
I'd like to see the individual pixels of the text up close.

Here's a full size version. I didn't know you could attach files, otherwise I would have done that the first time.
And thanks for your efforts to help with this issue.
Clicking on the image expands it to full size.

Well... that is really strange.
I'm curious what's going on with your hardware too.
Do you have the latest video driver?
And do you know what video card you're running?

Intel Graphics HD, updated to the latest version
I can run other games, like Oblivion, Fallout 3/New Vegas, and Team Fortress 2 on medium-high quality.
Perhaps Universe Sandbox operates differently than those games.

I'm not sure what's going on. I wish I did.
I got your feedback and reviewed your log files but don't see any problems there.
I've got a laptop with Intel HD graphics as well, but it's fine (although slightly different hardware).
And I'm not sure that anyone else has reported this problem.
---
Have you gone into the Intel Graphics properties and changed something?

Hey I am also having this problem. All the labels look like they are low res and blown up...I tried messing with the -height and -width in the steam launch options, but to no avail so far. I don't even think the startup resolution is the problem because the UI text looks fine. heres a pic

Thanks for reviewing the files. I believe I did at one point change a few things in my Intel Graphics properties. I'll check on them and report back if anything improves.

hey I reset my intel graphics options to default, and it fixed the problem! it looks great now. I think all I changed was the 3d texture quality from performance back to balanced, and I reset the defaults on the color enhancement. I am running an hp laptop with intel i5 by the way.
If you still want my log information though, I'd be happy to give it if it doesn't solve the problem with the other fellow.

It worked! Thank you Dan and jaco!
I also just had to make the 3D thing "balance", using the "custom settings" option.
