"It" refers to the jackpot, not a satellite.

Same could happen to a 2 ton satellite.

Get robbed - self explanetory
Loss by wind - push it off course
Spend it carelessly - sell it and spend the money carelessly
Do something else - errr... Do something else?

Are you sure? Cosmic radiation can do great damage to data. Tongue

Then...
I build a huge Lead box, it'll be heavy, but either way, nobody can access it.
Even me.

Maybe a system with three or more hard drives, which check that their content is the same, and if one file is corrupted (different) then the system checks the 2+ other files and repair the corrupted file.

I'd send one away from our solar system into deep space. Attached to the satellite-turned-probe will be a capsule, in said capsule will be miniature, realistic rag-dolls. In the off-chance an extra terrestrial race finds the capsule, they may think it's an alien space station gone astray. They then think the human race is composed of wee folk.

They're time traveling aliens. In a few days they'll show up with adorable tiny sweaters.

Either way, if I build my own satellite I'm going to build it and put it into orbit with my own bare damn hands! None of these "kits" and "regulations".

Just gotta string 1800 model rockets together in an elaborate but efficient 1800 stage rocket.

Payload would trail behind on a tether... opens up via a remote control. Could work.

...

Also, I'll need some snausages.
