I can only play for around 20 minutes before my CPU heat alarm goes off.
(which is 70 celsius)

Windows 7 Home Premium x64-bit




What can I do to prevent this -.-

I'd guess this has something to do with your CPU generating a lot of heat/not being able to transfer its heat when running at full speed in general (one of the cores at least), and doesn't have something to do with Universe Sandbox specifically. The solution might be to either somehow limit how fast it runs Universe Sandbox (so it doesn't run it at full speed, I don't know how to do this though), or to cool the CPU down (by opening a window etc. or by getting some better cooling fans or whatever is cooling its hardware).

If only I could find a good heatsink for my 1366 LGA socket

might as well settle for a liquid cooling system

I've got an Intel Core i7 860 and have no problems.

Like Bla suggested, I also doubt that this has anything "to do with Universe Sandbox specifically".

Did the processor come with a heat sink and fan? That's all that I'm using.

Is your fan working?

Have you cleaned the dust off the sink and fan recently?

Do other processor intensive programs also cause overheating?

Is their good air circulation in and out of your computer case?

Yeah I just took a look at my heatsink and there is some hardware failure.
The Intel Stock fan doesn't really scream high performance

If you open up Task Manager you can see your CPU usage. Is it even maxing out?
(Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc)

And is this a laptop or desktop?

Do you have your system overclocked?

Try both and see what the difference is:

Ctrl+Alt+Delete gives you a few different options in Windows XP, Vista, and 7.
(historically this would reset your computer without any confirmation)

Ctrl+ Shift +Esc launches the Task Manger directly.

On my Windows XP, both Ctrl + Shift + Esc and Ctrl + Shift + Esc launch taskmgr.exe

Ahh... my mistake.

In Windows Vista and 7, they're different.

They do the same thing in XP.

Whats up, whats up masters of the universe.
I finally got the heatsink installed and I'm getting pretty okay temps.

Great temps compared to freakin 70C I was getting with my previous heatsink.
