I'm not going to delete oceans just because they're oceans. They're meant to be a part of the game.

But that is the easiest way to let me fix chunk borders. Hope a forest generates there instead, and easily fix the chunky borders.

But I would have to move the islands, creating even more chunky borders. And it'd be a huge waste of time if a forest doesn't generate there. I think, either you will lose the islands and the sea, or I will crop the sea a bit south of the islands. If everyone who developed the islands can agree to lose them, I can crop it where I cropped earlier to the south.

We can also make a treaty that you will fix the chunkyborders of the islands if I moved them within x amount of time.
Anyway, Blacraft has been updat'd to 1.1. I haven't cropped the map yet or anything, and I might wait a few days before doing it.

So far, I'm the only one who has voted in this poll about replacing the moss stone in Spawntown. Vote now, if you want any influence on it. I can extend the poll if you want...

I think you should extend it to 12:00UTC as 00:00UTC is one hour before Naru gets home from torture school, and 1.1 hours before I normally reach home. Also it's like 2 minutes after Nue gets home.

That would look ugly with sandstone, but since I have 1.1 and I am too lazy to downgrade, I can't vote.

There are a few spidey dungeons under the Rail system in Oaks Pass. Get Ventus to show you.

Look in the Spawntown Dungeon Center, it is at Shaft Square (the shaft with glass ceiling near the public storage). There are a few spider dungeons in it.

12 UTC is like... a few hours before we all wake up on a school day... 00 UTC is 17 MST. You don't get home at 18 MST, do you? I surely don't eat an hour before I get home.

Does being in water affect your damage rate? Also, you have to stop walking before opening chest. I found like 3 opened chest in the plubic storage.

Transport Rail alternatives?
Powered rails: Speed: ~8 m/s Minimal size: 1x2 Bidirectional Amount of cargo: Unlimited Resources for 1km: 300 iron 72 wood 200 gold 200 redstone Operational Costs: None Limitations: Items block path
Furnace Carts: Speed: ~3.4 m/s Minimal size: 1x2 Bidirectional Amount of cargo: Unlimited Resources for 1km: 375 iron 41 wood Operational Costs: 1.22 coal/km Limitations: Items block path.
Piston Monorails: Speed: ~3.3 m/s Minimal size: 2x7 (2x14) Bidirectional to a certain extent will travel half-speed opposite direction Amount of cargo: 12 minecarts per train Resources for 1km: 6000 stone 7000 redstone 250 wood Operational Costs: None Limitations: None
Ok so we use powered rails right now. They're good and all, but they are very costly to make, especially cargo rails.
I'd like to use furnace carts, but Bla thinks they're too slow use fuel which is bad. -We could use furnace carts for cargo and powered rails for human transport, since (human transport) needs less gold. -Also, to travel 1.6km in a furnace cart, which is farther than most regions from spawntown, would take 2 charcoal (2.5 wood). That only takes a matter of seconds to mine or punch. I'd happily supply all the fuel and more needed to power furnace carts. (1 furnace cart can push a theoretically unlimited number of chest carts for cargo transport)
Piston transports are cool and stuff. They're slow and big, but stable, steady, and you can get off and on at any time just by walking or jumping. They can only carry 12 chest carts, but seeing as spawntown-desertopia cargo line only has 9 chest carts, we won't be surpassing this limit soon. Because they're so slow, they probably are only good for cargo and sightseeing. Or if you have a lot of time. Piston transport is fairly large, but this shouldn't be a problem if you build aboveground. The piston transport won't stop if it hits a mob, item or anything. A protective cover is easily built with 3 blocks/ meter of track. So, a great cargo rail that is materially inexpensive.
Except the 7,000 redstone/ km That might be a problem

Are you sure the pistonthings are stable? I could imagine redstone lagging and making something go wrong along the road. But maybe most problematic, what if it moves outside loaded chunks? The chestcarts would only load the chunk they're in, so if they're not on the edge of the thing and moved first, maybe it would stop. This could be tested. Can they even turn? I don't like having lots of straight lines visible on the map either. Also, about the economy of the piston transport: Gold is 32 times more rare on redstone, assuming you strip mine inside y=16. 7000 redstone is 35 times more than the 200 gold, meaning that gathering the redstone would take slightly more effort than gathering the gold. (Even though the gold could also be used for people transport, while we don't use that much redstone) I'm still for powered minecarts for cargo transport. Only the best is good enough, and we can gather enough gold to do it if we splunk and strip mine every once in a while. I have about 60 gold blocks in Spawntown Collective Storage ready for a new cargo route if it's worth it. We COULD also build the other projects, maybe as a (maybe permanent) temporary thing before the gold rails, but in that case they should be at different altitudes imo.

Analysis of about 7809 chunks from layers 10-13 (head level at 12, most optimal mining position)
gold: 0.07% iron: 0.39% redstone: 2.50%
The redstone was multiplied by 4.5 to account for the mining of ore yielding 4-5 redstone
So as for time needed to mine ores in each for of transport, assuming 1 block broken per second which equates to 4 blocks made visible per second. per kilometer
Powered (cargo) 300 iron -------------------------------5 hours 30 minutes 200 gold -------------------------------18 hours 48 minutes 200 redstone -------------------------- 35 minutes Total: ~25 hours
Furnace 375 iron -------------------------------6 hours 53 minutes Total: ~7 hours
Piston 7000 redstone ------------------------20 hours 24 minutes Total: ~20.5 hours
Ok, piston monorails wont work, i can see that. What do you mean by "Only the best is good enough"
Assuming this server runs for another 5 years, pretty optimistic? Assume a total cargo rail mileage of 4km by the end of 5 years, not unrealistic (considering to expansion of spawntown to the north and Vatallus city in progress). At 1chestcart-kilometer per day, and assuming 2 kilometer distance per average trip. That is 1826 kilometers traveled. (2070 charcoal). In 5 years, 110 chestcart hours will have been saved with powered vs furnace transport.
2070 charcoal=21 minutes to mine and 20 minutes to smelt, add another 20 minutes for walking etc. Thats 1 hour of work to power 5 years of minecarting.
According to above calculations, 4km of powered rails will take 100 hours while 4km of furnace cart will take 28 hours, a difference of 72 hours.
Assume, P% of the time, you are waiting at *this* location for a chest cart to arrive.
If P%*110>71, then it is worth it to build powered rails
P>65, then build powered P<65, then don't powered
The longer the rail is run, the more this tips in favor of powered rails. But i think 5 years and almost 2000km of travel is very optimistic prediction.
The cargo rail between spawntown and desertopia has been used about 20 times, and not once have i needed to wait for the minecart. Anyway i don't really care whether or not powered rails are used or not between regions. I just think it'd save time and effort.
Although can i have building to building cargo rails within my region that use furnace carts. I don't need speed, and i like use minimal materials. A single harvest of my half completed farm will yield over a large chest of melons, so i'll transport significant amounts of material. Not enough that powered rails should be worth it, but more than i can comfortably carry. (As in, carrying the material would take up a significant portion of the time i needed to make/mine/harvest it in the first place).

As for the calculations, you wouldn't mine the ores seperately, so the time to get the whatever-takes-longest ore would be the total time.
But yes, furnace carts would be more economic.
You can build cargo rails within your region with furnace carts, but if you don't plan for them to become booster cargo rails some time, you should not build them at y = 40.
